Man Shot on Puget Street in Sedro-Woolley

Sedro Woolley, WA –  Several local Law Enforcement agencies responded to reports of a weapons offense in the 400 block of  Puget Street in Sedro Woolley just after 2:30 pm on October 22nd, 2016.

According to  Sedro Woolley Police, a man in his 50’s was working on a vehicle in front of a residence in the 400 block of Puget Street  when an armed suspect confronted him.  The suspect, described as a white male in his 20’s, shot the  victim  at least three times before the suspect took off running Northbound from the scene. The suspect was further described as being 6 feet tall with a goatee and a slender build. Witnesses say he was possibly wearing a tan Carhartt Jacket.

Officers from the Sedro Woolley and Burlington Police Departments responded to the scene with Deputies from the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office.  An extensive search of the area was conducted, including an air search performed using  a border control helicopter and a ground search using a police  k-9.  The K-9 track was unsuccessful because there were too many people in the area for a successful track.  The Sedro-Woolley Skate Park is a couple blocks away from the shooting scene and had fifteen to twenty kids skating in the park at the time of the incident.

Firefighters from the Sedro Woolley Fire Department and Medics from Skagit County Medic One transported the victim in Critical condition to Skagit Valley Hospital where he was later transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

According to Sedro Woolley Police, they  believe the victim and suspect knew each other and they do not believe the shooting was a random act. Family members of the victim, who live in Saint Maries, Idaho,   say the victim  was in surgery at Harborview and the suspect has been identified to police.  They also said three younger relatives witnessed the shooting and are pretty distraught.

The active search in the area  for the suspect has been called off but the case remains under investigations by Detectives from the Sedro Woolley Police Department.
