Skagit Sheriff’s Deputies Respond to Reports of Man Shot

Lake Cavanaugh, Washington- The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a male that had possibly been shot around 4:51 am on the morning of June 7th, 2016.

According to Chad Clark, Chief of Patrol Operations with the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 04;51 am this morning,  the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a male that had been  shot with an unknown caliber firearm.  The shooting location was given as being about  7.5 miles east of HWY 9 on Lake Cavanaugh Rd.

The victim is a 66-year-old male from  Yakima.  He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he is said to be in stable condition at this time.

Initial reports were that the subject was a pedestrian on the roadway and he reported someone shot him  as they were driving Northbound on Lake Cavanaugh Road.  The victim told witnesses that the persons who  shot him laughed at him after shooting him and continued down the roadway.

A truck driver found the subject laying in the roadway and called 9-1-1. He stayed with  subject and applied pressure to the gunshot wound until Lake Cavanaugh Firefighters and Medics arrived.

Detectives with the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office are investigating and will attempt to find any additional witnesses to the shooting.

At this time, they do not have any suspects.
