Local Mount Vernon 12 year old, Xavier Neyens, earns MVP title of the Chesapeake Classic Baseball Tournament

Aberdeen, MD; Local Mount Vernon 12 year old, Xavier Neyens, earns MVP title of the Chesapeake Classic Baseball Tournament in Aberdeen, Maryland.

Northwest Elite Baseball Club, based in Tacoma WA, forms teams of the most talented baseball players in WA State. They then take their teams to National Tournaments all over the Country to compete against some of the Nation’s top baseball talents. The Northwest Elite 12U team was compromised of 13 twelve year old boys from all over the Puget Sound Area. Mount Vernon local, Xavier Neyens, plays his regular season on the Cascade Crush 13U baseball team, based out of Bellingham, WA., and was selected to the Northwest Elite 12U team, to travel to Aberdeen, Maryland, to compete against some of the top 12U teams at the Cal Ripken Experience Complex in the Chesapeake Classic. The Northwest Elite 12U team opened the tournament on Friday, August 9th, with Neyens hitting a grand slam his first at bat of the tournament.

NW Elite went 5-0 in the tournament before competing against Kidball Cardinals 12U in the Championship game on August 11th. Neyens started the championship game as the pitcher for three and a third innings and finished the game as catcher, going 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a solo homerun. NW Elite won the game with a score of 15-6 earning them the Chesapeake Classic Championship title. Neyens was then named the Tournament MVP.
