Victim and Driver of Pioneer Highway Crash Identified

Skagit County, WA – The Washington State Patrol has identified the victim and driver of the fatal vehicle  crash that occurred on Pioneer Highway around 5:46 p.m. on April  17th, 2019 at Milltown Road. The victim in the incident has been identified  as 21-year old Demetrius Sullivan of Bellevue.  Next of kin notification was made by the Skagit County Medical Examiners Office.

Troopers say 21-year old Zoe Danieli of Bellevue was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the crash and sustained life threatening injuries. She was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment.  Initially, investigators were unsure of who the driver and passenger were, due to the nature of the crash.

According to Troopers, the two individuals were traveling Southbound on Pioneer Highway near Milltown Road in a 2008 Subaru Outback when Danieli attempted to turn east onto a private driveway.  Troopers say the right side tires of the vehicle went over an embankment and the vehicle rolled upside down into a water filled culvert.

Witnesses and first responders attempted life saving efforts for post the driver and passenger and unfortunately the passenger, identified above passed away from his injuries.

Troopers say the cause of the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending against the driver.

The vehicle was impounded by Budget Towing for Safe keeping.
