Skagit County, WA- The Washington State patrol responded to a single vehicle crash on Pioneer Highway near Milltown Road around 5:46 p.m. on April 17th, 2019.
According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, a white 2008 Subaru Outback Sports Utility was traveling Southbound on Pioneer Highway when the driver attempted to turn East onto a private driveway.
Troopers say the right side tires of the vehicle went over the embankment and the vehicle flipped upside down in a water filled culvert. Witnesses and Emergency personnel who responded to the scene attempted life saving measures to rescue two 21-year old occupants of the vehicle, but the male died at the scene. A 21-year old female was injured and transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and Troopers say it is too early in the investigation to say if the male or female were wearing seatbelts or even who was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. It is also unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
The vehicle was totaled and impounded by Budget Towing for safe keeping.
The two occupants have not been identified, pending notification of next of kin. Troopers say, possible charges are pending.
