Wind Advisory Issued for Western Skagit County

Skagit County, WA- The Seattle/Tacoma National Weather Service has issued a WIND ADVISORY for Western Skagit County, Washington. The Wind advisory remains in effect from 10:00 p.m. this evening to 10:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Winds are expected to be South to Southwest at 20-35 miles per hour with gusts up to 50-70 miles per hour. South to Southwest winds will rapidly develop late this evening or early Sunday morning, then ease late Sunday Morning. For most of the area, the strongest winds will occur in the early morning hours around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Winds may snap tree branches and cause local power outages. Please secure loose items outdoors, including patio furniture and etc. Secure animals in a safe place.

A wind advisory is issued when winds are expected to be 35 miles per hour or more. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Please plan ahead for the storm event.
