Man Held at Facility for Sexually Violent Predators Killed

Skagit County, WA – A fight between two sexually violent predators being held at a special commitment center on McNeil Island, Washington ended with one man dead and one man jailed.

According to a news release from Chris Wright with the Department of Social and Health Services, a fight broke out in the facilities cafeteria on Thursday, between 63-year old Special Commitment Center resident Jerry Spicer and 38 year old Gregory Coley Jr, a Special Commitment Center Resident. Spicer suffered a head injury in the fight and was transported to Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis-McCord and later died of his injuries. Coley Jr. was arrested by the Washington State Patrol and transported to the Pierce County Jail.

In January of 2016, a Skagit County Jury determined that Coley was a dangerous predator and must remain confined at McNeil Island. Coley was convicted of one sexually violent offense as a juvenile, first degree child molestation in 1991.
