Stanwood Man Dies After Running Into Traffic on Freeway


Snohomish County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a fatality collision on Southbound I-5 near Milepost 213 around 6:09 p.m. on December 30th, 2018.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 35-year old Brian Cooper of Stanwood was seen by multiple witnesses running across the Southbound lanes of I-5 when he was struck by several vehicles in the left lane. Mr. Cooper was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The drivers of the three vehicles, 55-year old Peter Nielson of Mukilteo, 33-year old Puneet Hundal of Surrey, BC and 37-year old Paul Nguyen of Lynnwood were not injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash was listed as “Pedestrian in Roadway.” No Charges are expected in the incident.
