Woman Killed in Crash on Francis Road


Skagit County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle, fatality crash,  around 10:06 p.m. on November 3rd, 2018.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 31-year old Dakota Lantz Weaver of Bow was traveling Westbound on Francis Road in a gold 2009 Kia Sorento SUV when he crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound 1999 Honda Civic being driven by 38-year old Joleyne Shields of Mount Vernon.  Shields died at the scene.

Troopers say WEAVER is suspected of  driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol  at the time of the crash. He was transported to Skagit Valley Hospital before being arrested and booked into the Skagit County Community Justice Center on an Investigative Hold for Suspicion of Vehicular Homicide.

Both Vehicles were impounded to the Washington State Patrol Bullpen for safe keeping.

The Cause of the crash is listed as Driving Under the Influence.

Next of Kin notification was made by the  Washington State Patrol and a Skagit County Sheriff’s Office Support Officer.
