Mount Vernon, WA – The Mount Vernon Police Department has identified the bicyclist that was struck by a vehicle on East College Way as 46-year old Kelly Couture of Mount Vernon. Couture died as a result of her injuries just after 2:00 p.m. on October 30th, 2018 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
According to an updated press release from Lieutenant Greg Booth with the Mount Vernon Police Department, COUTURE was struck by a vehicle around 8:13 p.m. on the evening of Saturday, October 27th, 2018 in the 3700 block of East College Way.
Evidence and witness statements indicate COUTURE was riding Westbound in the Eastbound lanes of travel when she was struck. Weather conditions were poor at the time of the collision.
Mount Vernon Police Detectives continue to investigate the crash, and hope to have the case forwarded to the Skagit County Prosecutor’s Office for review in the next few weeks.
The adult male driver of the involved vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.
