Whatcom County, WA – Whatcom County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a murder-suicide on Friday, October 19th in the 2500 block of Little Beaver Road on the Lummi Nation Reservation.
According to a release from the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call at the home late on Friday Evening and found 32-year old Essie Cagey with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. CAGEY was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The suspect in the shooting, 37-year old Alakana Halemano was found dead at the house with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Deputies say the two deceased subjects had been involved in an argument earlier in the evening and HALEMANO was in violation of a 2017 Domestic Violence Protection Order between him and CAGEY.
Three Children and a third adult were in the home at the time of the shooting and were not injured. CAGEY is said to be the mother of the three children.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office investigated the murder-suicide with the help of Lummi Law and Order and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
