Mount Vernon, WA– A 33-year old Mount Vernon man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a 13-year old girl at a sleepover.
According to probable cause affidavits of arrest obtained by SkagitBreaking.com through a public disclosure request, Mount Vernon Officers responded to a reported sexual assault on August 2nd, 2018.
A 13-year old teen reported to detectives that she was staying the night at a friend’s house when the friends, moms, boyfriend, entered the room and sexually assaulted her while he thought she was sleeping. The teen reported the male had also been inappropriately touching her.
Two weeks prior to the sexual assault, the teen reported the man began masturbating and trying to talk to the teen and her friends across a hallway. The teens said they could clearly see the man masturbating in a mirror in their bedroom that was reflecting from across the hall from his bedroom.
Detectives obtained and served a search warrant on the mans residence and found evidence consistent with the teens sexual assault allegation.
The male was detained and told Detectives he did not recall any of the teenagers seeing him masturbate but couldn’t say that they didn’t see him and he didn’t know about it. When asked about the sexual assault allegations the man denied having sexual contact with the teen but stated he did enter the bedroom she was in around 4 a.m. to feed his pet parrot.
The man admitted to being a registered sex offender and having prior arrests for Child Molestation, Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and Indecent Exposure. He also admitted to taking pictures of the teenagers in swimsuits and sending the photos to his friends.
He is currently being held in the Skagit County Community Justice center on suspicion of 2nd Degree Rape of a Child and Indecent Exposure. He is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
