Mount Vernon Police and FBI Conduct Searches Related to Prostitution Investigation

Mount Vernon, WA – The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Mount Vernon Police Officers and members of the Skagit County Interlocal Drug Enforcement Unit (SCIDEU) served search warrants at two massage parlors on Riverside Drive in Mount Vernon around 11:45 a.m. on October 3rd, 2018.

According to a press release from Lieutenant Greg Booth with the  Mount Vernon Police Department, the investigation started several weeks ago, after police received  tips regarding suspicious activity and foot traffic occurring at both the Tulip Spa,  located in the 2500 block of Riverside Drive and I Spa, located in the 1700 block of Riverside Drive.

Information obtained while conducting surveillance and through covert contacts with the business, led investigators to secure search warrants for both locations, looking for additional evidence for the crime of promoting prostitution.

During the searches, Lt. Booth said “Detectives seized business records, cash and transaction receipt information, and several spa employees were interviewed.   Investigators plan to make additional contacts with people based on the customer records obtained.

The City of Mount Vernon is reviewing the case for possible business license revocation.
