Seven Injured in Rollover Crash on I-5 in Snohomish County

Snohomish County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a single vehicle rollover crash on Southbound I-5 near milepost 209, two-miles North of the City of Arlington around 1:15 p.m. on September 16th, 2018.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 43-year old Claudio Ventura of Granite Falls, WA was traveling Southbound I-5, approaching the Stillaguamish River Bridge in a red 2007 Chevrolet Suburban towing a white 2008 Komfort Travel Trailer.  Troopers say Ventura was driving too fast for conditions and lost control of his vehicle, struck the barrier, rolled and came to rest blocking all Southbound lanes of I-5.

Ventura was injured in the crash and transported to Providence Hospital Colby Campus.  Six passengers in his vehicle were also injured and transported to Providence Hospital Colby Campus.  The passengers were identified as 18-year old Estaban Ventura, 19-year old Pabla Ventura, 50-year old Ventura Juarez Alvarez, 39-year old Juana Jose Ventura, 20-year old Claudio Ventura and a juvenile male.  Troopers say they were all from Granite Falls, Washington. All passengers wore seat belts and drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.

The cause of the crash is listed as speed and charges of “Speeds too fast for conditions: are pending against the driver.

Traffic was backed up Southbound for miles for several hours while crews worked to clean up the scene.

The vehicles were impounded for safe keeping to Dick’s Towing.
