DUI Driver Injured in McLean Road Crash


Mount Vernon, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded with the McLean Road Fire Department and Medic 3 to a single vehicle crashed into a telephone pole on McLean Road near Ginthner Drive around 8:20 p.m. on July 1st, 2018.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 48-year old Servando Castaneda-Hernandez of Mount Vernon was traveling Eastbound on McLean Road in a silver 2018 Hyundai Accent when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a power pole.


McLean Road firefighters and Paramedics from Medic 3,  extracted Castaneda-Hernadez from the vehicle before transferring him to a helicopter from Airlift Northwest that transported him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

A passenger in the vehicle, 34-year old Armando Martinez-Cruz of Mount Vernon was also injured and transported to Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon for treatment.

The Cause of the accident is listed as driving under the influence and Castaneda-Hernadez faces charges of Driving Under the Influence.
