Skagit Speedsters Participate in Northwest Inline Regional Speedskating Championships

Skagit Speedsters are the inline speedskating team representing Skagit Skate in Burlington.

Puyallup, WA – The 2018 Northwest Inline Regional Speedskating Championship was held this last weekend, June 1-3, and featured elite speedskating athletes from Auburn, Bremerton, Spokane, Marysville, Tacoma, Federal Way, Puyallup, Gresham Oregon, Portland Oregon and Coeur d’Alene Idaho. The Regional Championship is where these skaters qualify for the National Championship to be held in Lincoln Nebraska in July.

Rick Jonasson won first in the Elite Classic Men division. Ayana Haynes won first place in the Elite Primary Girls division. Kendra Darsch won second place and Putter Somwang won fourth place in the Elite Elementary Girls division.

The Freshman 4-Girl relay team of Kendra Darsch, Sarah Garman, Lotus Blue and Mackenzee Jonasson won first place. The Freshman 3-Girl relay team of Kendra Darsch, Mackenzee Jonasson and Lotus Blue won second place. The Elementary 2-Girl relay team of Kendra Darsch and Putter Somwang won second place. The Elementary 2-Mix relay team of Kendra Darsch and Cage Littlefield won second place.

Skagit Speedsters had a clean sweep in the Novice Freshmen Girls Division. Lotus Blue won first place, Mackenzee Jonasson second place, Sarah Garman third place and Abby Vlahovich fourth place.

Putter Somwang won first place in the Novice Elementary Girls division. Rick Jonasson won second in the Novice Classic Men division. Tyler Wilson won second place in the Novice Sophomore Men division and Murron Craig won second in the Novice Sophomore Women division.

The Speedsters were the number one team in points for the Novice division and coaches John and Tari Caswell were awarded Coaches of the Year.
