Man Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle in Mount Vernon


Mount Vernon, WA– The Mount Vernon Police Department responded to reports of a vehicle verses pedestrian collision in the 3000 block of East Division Street around 3:30 a.m. on May 14th, 2018.

According to a press release from Lieutenant Greg Booth with the Mount Vernon Police Department, Initial reports indicated a male pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the Westbound Lane of travel.

On arrival, Officers and Medical Crews determined the pedestrian, a 35-year old Mount Vernon man, was deceased in the roadway.

Detectives with the Mount Vernon Police Department and the Washington State Patrol were called to the scene for the investigation. The adult female driver of the vehicle involved remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators according to Booth.

Evidence and witness statements indicate the pedestrian may have been kneeling or laying the Westbound lane of travel at the time he was struck by the vehicle. It’s unclear why the man was in the roadway.

The on-scene investigation concluded just before 7:00 a.m. and the roadway was reopened to traffic.
