Sedro-Woolley High School Newspaper Plans Community Forum

The Sedro-Woolley High School Journalism club will be hosting a community forum on Friday, March 9 in the Sedro-Wooley High School cafeteria. The doors will open at 6:45 p.m.

The goal of the event is to come together as a diverse community to discuss the role of journalism in society today, as well as giving the public a chance to ask some prominent members of the journalism community and distinguished public figures any questions they might have.

Speakers will include:

Skagit Valley Herald reporter, Kera Wanielista,

 Concrete Herald publisher, Jason Miller

 Mount Vernon Police Lieutenant , Chris Cammock

Sedro-Woolley City Council member, Germaine Kornegay

 Journalists fromthe Western Washington University Newspaper, The Western Front

Communications Professor and media law expert from Western Washington University, Peggy Watt

 Sports editor for the Yakima Herald-Republic, Jerrel Swenning

Student representatives from The Cardinal and The Western Front

 

 

The event will be open to the community at large.  Coffee and baked goods will be provided by the high school’s journalism club. Admission for the event is free and the student reporters will be soliciting donations. The money earned will be used to fund the future issues of The Cub as well as conventions and professional development for Sedro-Woolley’s student journalists.
