Two Die After Head-On Crash on SR20 In Island County

Island County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a two vehicle-head on crash around 5:21 a.m. on State Route 20 at Libbey road in Island County on December 18th, 2017.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 79-year old Kenneth Bruneau of Oak Harbor was traveling Northbound in the Southbound Lanes of State Route 20 just South of Libbey Road in a red 2011 Mazda 2 when he struck a Southbound 2000 Toyota Camry head-on in the Southbound Lanes.  Both Mr. Bruneau and the driver of the Camry, 59-year old Sharon Tobin of Oak Harbor died at the scene.

Troopers say both drivers were wearing seat belts and the cause of the crash is listed as driving in the opposite lane.

Next of Kin was notified by Trooper Martin, the Island County Coroner and the Island County Assistant Coroner.

Both vehicles were impounded for safe keeping by A1 Towing.
