Two Injured in SR20 Crash at Campbell Road

Anacortes, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a two vehicle injury collision on State Route 20 at Campbell Road in the City of Anacortes around 8:06 p.m. on September 30th, 2017.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 20-year old Jonathan Lauger of Oak Harbor was traveling Southbound on State Route 20  in a red 1993 Volvo 850 4-door when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and lost control of his vehicle before striking a Northbound 2008 Honda Element being driven by 36-year old Alexis Blue of Bellingham.

Mr. Lauger was injured and transported to Island Hospital by medics. A passenger in his vehicle, 18-year old Heather Mechaelis of Oak Harbor was seriously  injured and transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The Driver of the Honda Element and a passenger in her vehicle, 36-year old Deidre Peroff of Bellingham were both not seriously injured in the crash.

Trooper say all four occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. Both vehicles were totaled and impounded for safe keeping by Anacortes Towing.   The cause of the crash  is listed as Speed and charges of  Negligent Driving 2nd degree are pending against Mr. Lauger.

Troopers say drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.
