Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Semi-Truck in Anacortes Identified

Anacortes, WA– The Washington State Patrol responded to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian and a semi-truck  on Commercial Avenue at 12th Street in Anacortes around 3:14 a.m.  on June 21st 2017.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, a 51-year old Mount Vernon man was traveling Northbound on Commercial avenue in a 2015 Hyundai Semi-Tractor Trailer. Troopers say the driver made a left hand turn onto 12th Street when he struck a pedestrian in the roadway.

The pedestrian was identified as 44-year old Jennifer Young of Anacortes. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The press memo states drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.

Next of Kin was notified by the Skagit County Coroner.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation but charges are not expected to be filed against the driver of the semi-truck driver.
