Anacortes, WA – The Washington State Patrol arrested a 56-year old Anacortes man for sending a threatening email to the Governor of Washington State.

The following threatening  email was received at 9:20 a.m. on June 6th, 2017 and said “Governor, I am giving you one week to solve the crisis that is happening at Evergreen State College in Olympia. If you decide to not take care of it, I will be forced to use the powers that be in my group to come after you personally and also the College there. Trust me governor, you don’t want to say no to this. Your very life depends on it. Do the right thing and stop the nonsense at Evergreen, or else I am personally going to come and find you, and I am an ex-Marine. Trust me gov, you DON’T want me to catch up with you. You have my full name and address here so take this to heart, you F*** up on this, I will come after you.”

Investigators immediately reviewed the threat and looked up the information provided by the sender of the email address.

Around 1:30 p.m., Detectives interviewed the Executive Analyst that initially received the email on behalf of the Governor.

Detectives contacted the man at his Anacortes residence and 10:50 p.m. and placed him under arrest where he was then transported to the Anacortes Police Department.

The man consented to an audio recorded interview where he told investigators he felt the recent situations at The Evergreen State College was unfair and he admitted to going on the Governor’s website and making the comments.  He also told Detectives that he had been drinking the previous night prior to visiting the Governor’s website. He stated he has a history of drinking and saying things he later regrets.

The man was booked into the Skagit County Jail on an Investigative hold for  making threats against the Governor. He remains in custody in lieu of $50,000 bail.
