Skagit County, WA- A family new to the area has become victims of theft before they even moved into their new home.
The Wakeland Family just bought a home off of Farm to Market Road in Bow. The house sat empty for a short period of time while they were making the move to Skagit County from Out of State.
As part of the negotiations in the purchase of their new home, they negotiated a small green trailer and a John Deer X500 Riding Lawnmower.
When they arrived at their new home they found out that someone had broken into a barn on the property and stole both the riding lawn mower and the trailer. Whoever stole the items closed the barn back up and left behind ramps to load the mower in the yard.
Mrs. Wakeland said, “We negotiated both of them in the sale of the home, and are heartbroken as this is our first impression of the area. We have filed a police report. We are offering a reward for $250 if information is provided to that leads to the items being returned.”
A neighbor told the family that on Wednesday of last week there were three men in a truck possibly “casing” homes in the area.
If you know anything about the thefts or the location of the trailer and riding mower you are asked to call the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office.
