“Deadliest Catch” Deckhand Arrested in Anacortes

Anacortes, Washington, Nickola “Nick” Mavar Jr, a deckhand on The Northwestern for The Discovery  Channel’s hit tv show, The  Deadliest Catch was  arrested in Anacortes on the night of March 9th, 2016 for  suspicion  of Assault 4th degree DVPA and Violation of the Uniformed Controlled Substance Act.

According to a bio on the Discovery Channel Website, Nick Mavar Jr has  been a crew member on the Northwestern for seven years, but in the summer he returns to Bristol Bay as captain of his family’s salmon boat, the Miss Colleen.

Even-tempered Nick provides an essential juxtaposition to a boat filled with wild and mischievous guys. While the others are setting up pranks, goofing off, and literally lighting each other on fire. He rarely loses his temper, even though there are many incidents where others lose control. Like many fishermen with close families, he finds it tough to spend so much time at sea away from his wife and small children.

Mr. Mavar Jr. was released from the Skagit County Jail the following day on his own Personal Recognizance pending his next court appearance on 3/18/16.

He has cases pending with the Skagit County Superior Court and the Anacortes Municipal Court.
