Sedro Woolley Family Seeks Justice For Anna Mae

Sedro Woolley, WA-  On Saturday, December 14th, 2013, around 9:45 pm, 28-year-old Zebariah Dolan,  of Alturas, California was trusted  to care for his girlfriends, 14 month old daughter, Anna Mae Rose Ulrich while  the girl’s mother Crystal Huff  was working the night shift in Canby.   The couple was living in California at the time but Crystal  and her family are  from Sedro Woolley, Washington.

Around 3:45 am Sunday,  December 15th, 2013,  Dolan took Anna Mae to the Emergency Room at the Modoc  County Medical Center in California. The child was unconscious and was severely injured. The injuries were suspicious and hospital Staff suspected child abuse. They called Law Enforcement to the hospital to interview Mr. Dolan.

Anna Mae was flown to the Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno before she died from her injuries later in the day.  An autopsy revealed that Anna Mae  died of blunt force trauma to the  head, hemorrhaging to the brain, spinal cord, and eyes and she had numerous bite marks that punctured the skin.

Alturus Police originally  arrested Zebariah Dolan at the Modoc Medical Center  for suspicion of child abuse.  According to the Modoc County Record, this included assault with a deadly weapon or force likely to produce great bodily harm, willful cruelty to a child with possible injury/death likely, comatose state or paralysis of a child under the age of eight years old. After Anna Mae passed away he was re-booked on the charges of homicide.

Mr. Dolan was arraigned at 10 am on December 17th, 2013. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.  The case has been continued since that time.

According to the Modoc District Attorney Jordan Funk, the trial that was set for June 2015 was rescheduled due to a scheduling conflict with the judges that were presiding over the trial.  Mr. Dolan’s Case should go to trial sometime in early to mid  2016.

The Modoc District Attorney Jordan Funk declined to provide Skagit Breaking with additional details of the case via a public disclosure request  but confirmed that Mr. Dolan is facing 25 years to life in prison.  He is charged with one (1) count of 2nd degree murder (15 to life) and one (1) count of child abuse causing death (25 to life).

Zebariah Dolan is still being held at the Modoc County Jail.

On December 7th, 2015, Crystal wrote, “My daughter taught me more about life in her short 15 months than I could have imagined! Thank you Anna Mae Rose for showing me what life is about. I love you to the moon and back baby girl.”
