Anacortes Police and Fire responded to a hazardous material call on West Third Street
A little after noon today Anacortes Police Department and Anacortes Fire Department responded to a residence for an aid call on West Third Street. The occupants of the home reported that they were feeling ill after coming in to contact with a package that they had found in their front yard.
The package has been taken for evaluation; it appears to be a fairly common chemical used in industry. There is no indication of criminal intent, but the Police Department will be investigating how the package ended up in the reporting party’s front yard.
Although hazardous material procedures were used to remove the package, now that it has been identified it is apparent that there is no danger to the public.
