Man Dies After Jumping From Deception Pass Bridge

Deception Pass, WA-  A man died after jumping from the Deception Pass Bridge around 8:30 am this morning.  According to a witness,  a man was hanging over the bridge when a woman saw him and approached him.  As the woman asked  him to stop and reached for the man, he let go of the bridge  and fell to his death on the rocks below.

Firefighters and medics responded from both the Skagit County and Island County sides of the bridge.  A large police presence responded as well as  Troopers from the Washington State Patrol, Parks Police and the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office.

The mans body was recovered from the rocks below the bridge and returned to the Bowman Bay side of Deception Pass where the Skagit County Coroner took possession of the body.

The man’s identity has not been released pending notification of his next of kin.

A vehicle, believed to belong to the man was towed from the scene.
