SR99 Crash Involving State Patrol Vehicle

Snohomish County, WA– The Washington State Patrol responded to a two car injury accident on September 17th, 2015 around 11:25 pm on State Route 99, just North of Lincoln Way around Milepost 51.

According to the press memo from the Washington State Patrol, Douglas Day, 48 of Monroe, was driving a 2000 Cadillac Catera when he  pulled out of a driveway along State Route 99   just before midnight on September 17th. He failed to yield the right of way to a Northbound, fully marked 2015 Ford Explorer Washington State Patrol (WSP)  vehicle. The WSP vehicle was driven by Trooper Christopher Hooper of Marysville.  The vehicles collided on SR99.

Mr. Day was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with injuries.  Trooper Hooper was transported to the Colby Campus of Providence Hospital.  Both drivers were reported to have non life threatening injuries.

According to the press memo, drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash and both drivers were reported to be wearing their seat belts.

The cause of the accident and charges in the accident are pending.

Both Vehicles were impounded to the Washington State Patrol district 7 bullpen.
