Pedestrian Hit By Vehicle on SR20 After Stepping Into Traffic

Sedro Woolley, WA: July 21st, 2015, 8:31 pm. The Washington State Patrol responded to a vehicle vs pedestrian collision on State Route 20 near Vista View Drive in Sedro Woolley.

According to the press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 44 year old Lisa Prentice of Sedro Woolley was Eastbound State Route 20 near Vista View drive in a 1995 Toyota Aavalon.

A SKAT bus was stopped on the right shoulder of State Route 20, at a bus stop, near Vista View Drive.

Marco Casellanos, 23 of Mount Vernon, a passenger on the bus, exited the bus and stepped into traffic as he attempted to cross the road in front of the bus in an area that is not marked with a cross walk.

The vehicle struck the pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian was transported via ambulance to Skagit Valley Hospital and then flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injures.

There were two passengers in the vehicle that were not injured. Matthew Prentice, 46 of Sedro Woolley and an 11 year old juvenile also of Sedro Woolley.

The press memo states the vehicle received about $1500 in damages and was driven from the scene.

The Washington State Patrol lists the cause of the accident as “unsafe crossing by pedestrian”.

Charges against the pedestrian are pending for “Pedestrian in Roadway violations”.

There are no charges pending against the driver of the vehicle.
