Whidbey Island Firefighters Rescue Dog Who Fell Down Embankment

Whidbey Island, WA – On the afternoon of Wednesday, July 18th, 2018, firefighters from the South Whidbey  Fire/EMS and Central Whidbey Island Fire & Rescue, responded to a home in the 2300 block of Soundview Drive in Langley for a rope rescue.

The 9-1-1 caller reported that an older pit bull mix named Sam, had fallen approximately 20 feet over an embankment and had been  stuck  on the edge of a bluff for over an hour.

Rescue Crews used a lowering and mechanical advantage raising rope system to rescue Sam and reunite him with his owner.

Sam was injured in the incident and firefighters said he was “very happy to be back home.”
