Feeland Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash

Island County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a two vehicle crash around 11:30 p.m.  on the evening of  June 11th, 2018.  The crash occurred on  Northbound State Route 525, 2 miles North of Langley in Island County.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 30-year old Joshua Bybee of Freeland was traveling Northbound on State Route 525 approaching Crawford Road on a yellow 2000 Honda VFR 800 Motorcycle. Troopers say BYBEE veered to the right and struck a guard rail where BYBEE was ejected from the motorcycle and it continued into the Southbound Lane of State Route 525 where it was struck by a Green 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe being driven by 36-year old Joseph Turner of Freeland.  The driver of the Tahoe was not injured in the crash but Mr. BYBEE died at the scene.

Next of kin was notified by the  Goldendale Police Department.

Scotty’s Towing impounded the motorcycle for safe keeping. The Tahoe was impounded by Simmons Towing for safe keeping.

Troopers say the cause of the crash is under investigation and no charges are pending.  Troopers say it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Mr. BYBEE was wearing a Helmet but did not have a valid motorcycle endorsement.
