Troopers say as she attempted to turn left onto State Route 20, she failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic and was struck by an Official Skagit County Sheriff’s Office 2015 Ford Explorer that was traveling South on State Route 20.  Both vehicles came to rest blocking the Northbound Lanes of travel.

Kathryn Jensen died from injuries sustained in the crash.  The driver of the Explorer, 56-year old Thomas Molitor of Oak Harbor was not injured in the crash.

Trooper say neither drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash and both drivers wore their seat belts.

The Geo Prizm was impounded by Anacortes Towing to the Washington State Patrol  Bullpen in Burlington.  The Ford Explorer was impounded by Peter’s Towing to the Washington State Patrol bullpen in Burlington.

The cause of the crash is listed as “Failure to yield the right of way.” No charges are expected in the crash.
