Burlington, WA – Burlington-Edison High School (B-EHS) staff  was made aware of threatening comments made by a student to a guardian over the weekend that included general threats of harming himself and others at the Burlington Edison High School.

On Monday, February 26th, 2018, Burlington Edison High School  staff took immediate and swift action and contacted the Burlington Police Department who  isolated the student and subjected him to a search.  The search turned up nothing and the student was taken into police custody without incident and placed on Emergency Expulsion from the school.

In a memo to parents from Todd Setterlund, Burlington Edison High School Principal wrote “The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance at B-EHS. Threats to our learning environment and our school community are taken very seriously. We will continue to work with local law enforcement to address incidents and threats of this nature to ensure a safe campus.”

“Incidents such as these are a good reminder that if you see or hear something unusual, report the information to a B-EHS administrator.  Students, parents and staff may call or text (855) 714-0195 to anonymously report safety or other concerns at schools. Tips can also be emailed to 1377@alert1.us. Tips are investigated and handled internally or forwarded to the Burlington Police or Skagit County Sheriff’s Department, as appropriate, Setterlund wrote.
