Whidbey Island Naval Air Station participates in annual training exercise

Naval Air Station Whidbey Island,Wa- Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Commander Navy Region Northwest, and other Navy bases in the Puget Sound and Seattle area will be conducting the annual security readiness exercise, Solid Curtain, or Citadel Shield (SC-CS18). The exercise will go from Jan. 29 to Feb. 9, 2018.

  Local community’s may see an increase in military activity, and traffic and pedestrian congestion near military facilities, due to the exercise.  

  The annual conduction of this security exercise is to ensure readiness and verify response procedures.

  Exercise SC-CS18 is a Force Protection and Anti-Terrorism exercise. It is being conducted by Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command (USFF) and Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) on all Navy installations in the continental United States.

  The annual exercise uses realistic scenarios to ensure U.S. Navy Security Forces maintain a high level of readiness to respond to changing and dynamic threats.
