Arrest Made in Mount Vernon Homicide Investigation

Mount Vernon, WA –  Mount Vernon Detectives have located and arrested a 20-year old man in connection with the homicide investigation in the 2100 block of East College Way yesterday.

According to a press release from Mount Vernon Lieutenant Greg Booth, around 1:30 a.m. this morning investigative information led Detectives to a residence in the 3300 block of Northwest Avenue in Bellingham, Washington.

Officers from the Bellingham Police Department assisted investigators in locating a 20-year old Bellingham man. A search warrant was served at the address on Northwest Avenue and evidence was collected at the home.

The suspect, identified through online court records as 20-year old Andres Sanchez-Segovia was taken into custody and transported to the Skagit County Community Justice Center. He was booked on an INVESTIGATIVE HOLD for Robbery 1st Degree and Murder 2nd Degree.

The Crime Scene on E. College Way remains closed. Police hope to release the scene later today, once the Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Response Team finishes processing the scene for evidence.

The Victim’s identity is being withheld by Law Enforcement pending confirmation and notification of family, by the Skagit County Coroner’s Office.
