Snohomish County, WA – A man riding a bicycle on State Route 92 (West Stanley Street) in Granite Falls was struck by an SUV around 4:40 p.m. this afternoon.
According to a press release from Shari Ireton, Director of Communications for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, the man, believed to be in his 50’s was riding his bike in the 300 block of West Stanley Street (SR92) when he was stuck by the SUV. The woman driver stopped and called 9-1-1 but the man was trapped under the vehicle. Fire crews worked to remove the man and then transported him to Providence Regional Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
The driver cooperated with Deputies on-scene during the investigation and Detectives do not believe there were any contributing factors leading to the crash, such as driver impairment, drugs, speed, etc.
The roadway was dark and the victim was reportedly wearing dark clothing at the time of the accident.
The male has not been identified. Official cause and manner of death will be confirmed by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.
