12-Year Old Hit By Vehicle in Mount Vernon, Driver Flees Scene

Mount Vernon, WA– The Mount Vernon Police and Fire Departments responded to a Hit and Run motor vehicle crash around 7:04 a.m. on November 20th, 2017.

According to Lieutenant Greg Booth with the Mount Vernon Police Department, the incident occurred at the intersection of Section Street and South Laventure Road. A 12-year old boy was waved across a cross walk at the intersection by another driver, while a black or dark green SUV was driving through the intersection.  The SUV struck the child and left the scene.

Witnesses reported to Officers that they believe the driver knew the child had been struck before fleeing the scene.

The 12-year old suffered a leg injury and was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for Treatment.

Detectives continue to investigate the incident. If you have any information on the hit and run driver you are requested to contact the Mount Vernon Police Department.
