Everett, WA – A 13-year old male has been arrested overnight in the shooting death of a 14-year old teen in the 9900 block of 12th Avenue in Everett, Washington on October 4th, 2017.
According to a press release from the Everett Police Department, during the course of the Homicide Investigation, detective spoke with witnesses who believed the 14-year old male had an altercation with a 13-year old male around 4:00 p.m. on the evening of October 4th, 2017.
Detectives say about an hour after the first altercation, the two teens ran into each other at Walden Pond Apartments where the 13-year old fired one shot from a pistol at the 14-year old. The victim was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett where he later died from his injuries.
Around 10:00 p.m. on the night of the shooting, a citizen called 9-1-1 to report seeing a male believed to be the shooter at a bus stop on West Casino Road. The male was contacted by Officers and was taken into custody without incident.
During the interview, the 13-year old suspect admitted to shooting the victim. The teen then led detectives to where he hid the gun after the shooting and detectives recovered the gun as evidence.
Detectives say they believe the shooting is gang related and the gun used by the 13-year old was borrowed from a 12-year old.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
