Darrington, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a three vehicle crash on State Route 530, 5 miles West of Darrington around 1:25 p.m. on September 30th, 2017.
According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 58-year old Timothy Nair of Bothell was traveling Westbound on State Route 530 in a 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser when he slowed for traffic ahead of him.
Troopers say 44-year old Deena Riddle of Darrington was also traveling Westbound on State Route 530 behind Mr. Nair in a white 1993 Toyota Celica and failed to see the traffic ahead of her slowing down and she rear-ended Mr. Nair’s vehicle. The force of the crash pushed his vehicle into the Eastbound Lane where it was struck by an Eastbound Dodge Ram 3500 Truck being driven by 36-year old Rickey Sharratt of Darrington. All Three drivers were injured and transported to Cascade Hospital for Treatment.
Two Passengers in the Celica, 51-year old Eugune Kelly and 17-year old Tyler Kelly were injured and transported to Cascade Hospital for treatment.
61-year old Masaako Nair of Bothell, a passenger in the Toyota Cruiser was also injured and transported to Cascade Hospital for treatment.
The Celica was totaled and impounded to North County Tow for safe keeping. The Toyota Cruiser was totaled and impounded to Dick’s Towing for Safe keeping. The Ram Truck was damaged but driven from the scene.
Troopers say the cause of the crash was speeds too fast for conditions and driver inattention. Charges are pending against Deena Riddle.
