Mount Vernon Fire Determined Arson, Arrest Made

Mount Vernon, WA – The Mount Vernon Police Department and the Mount Vernon Fire Department completed their on-scene investigation into the suspicious structure fire that was reported around 10:30 p.m..  at 314 Pine Street in Mount Vernon on Tuesday, September 26th, 2017.

Detectives and Investigators also completed extensive review of surveillance videos in the area of the fire around  Pine Square in downtown Mount Vernon. Investigators  determined the fire was intentionally set in the doorway of Gilbert and Gilbert Law Firm and during the course of the investigation, Officers were able to identify a possible suspect in the incident.

Around 9:00 a.m. on September 28th, 2017, Mount Vernon Officers took a 28-year old Mount Vernon Man into custody at the Mount Vernon Police Department.  The man was booked into the Skagit County Jail for Investigation of Arson.
