Mukilteo, WA – The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 3100 block of York Road around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20th, 2017 for reports of multiple gunshots heard by residents in the area.
Arriving Deputies found a deceased 24-year old female inside the front door of a duplex with obvious gunshot wounds. Another adult female and three children were inside the house but were reported to be sleeping at the time of the shooting and were not injured.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the deceased female as 24-year old Alisha M. Canales-McGuire of Concrete, WA. The cause and manner of death was listed as homicidal violence.
Detectives with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate the homicide and the suspect remains at large. It was not made public the relationship that Canales-McGuire had with the woman or children in the residence, but court records show that Police have responded to the same duplex on York Road in the past for domestic violence complaints from another woman associated with the duplex.
A reverse 9-1-1 call was made to area residences on September 21st and investigators canvassed the area on foot asking area residents for any related video footage. Detectives are looking for video and/or photos from home and business surveillance cameras in the surrounding areas near the homicide. Specifically, they are looking for anything captured between the hours of 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. on September 20th that shows vehicles and/or pedestrian traffic within a one-mile radius of the 3100 block of York Road.
According to online social media profiles, Alisha “Punky” Canales-McGuire previously attended Concrete High School, and has previously worked as a Nursing Assistant at Life Care Center of Skagit Valley, been a co-manager at Panacea Cannabis, has worked at Hampton Lumber and has worked at The Skagit Casino and Resort. She was married in July to Bradley Mcquire, who she called her “best friend” in her social media posts.
