Two Injured in DUI Motorcycle Crash Near Coupeville

Island County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to reports of a serious injury, two-motorcycle crash on Eastbound State Route 20 near Keystone Avenue around 7:24 p.m. on September 23rd, 2017.

According to a Washington State Patrol press memo, 53-year old Robert Durham of Spokane and 38-year old Jason Nall of Bremerton were both traveling at a high rate of speed and racing Eastbound State Route 20 on a 2009 Harley Davidson and a 2016 Harley Davidson. Troopers say both drivers lost control and were ejected from their motorcycles.

Mr. Durham was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries. Mr. Nall was transported to Whidbey General Hospital with injuries.

Trooper say Speed, Alcohol and Reckless driving were the cause of the crash and charges of Reckless Driving and Driving Under the influence were expected against both drivers.

Both Riders were wearing DOT compliant Helmets and had valid motorcycle endorsements, according to Troopers.

The 2009 Harley Davidson Flat Track motorcycle was impounded for safe keeping by Simmons Towing.

The 2016 Harley Davidson FXDL Low Rider Motorcycle was impounded for safe keeping by Scotty’s Towing
