Burlington, WA – Burlington Officers responded to a “sex offense” in the City of Burlington on May 30th, 2017.
According to court records, a 5-year old female reported to a trusted adult that a 32-year old male had inappropriately touched her on several occasions. The trusted adult confronted the male, who admitted to inappropriately touching the child and said he would be willing to speak to Law Enforcement about it. The trusted adult contacted Law Enforcement who began an investigation into the allegations.
During the course of the investigation, Detectives set up an interview for the 5-year old child with a child interview specialist. During the interview, the child disclosed several instances of being touched inappropriately and molested by the 32-year old male.
Burlington Police attempted to make contact with the male at a local motel where he was staying and he refused to speak to officers at the advice of his attorney.
On June 14th, 2017, Burlington Officers took the 32-year old male into custody and booked him into the Skagit County Jail on an INVESTIGATIVE HOLD for Investigation of Rape of a Child in the first degree and Child Molestation in the first degree.
The 32-year old male appeared in Skagit County Superior Court of August 4th, 2017. His Next court appearance is on September 14th, 2017.
