Mount Vernon Man Dies of Medical Emergency in I-5 Crash

Bellingham, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a rollover crash on Northbound I-5 near Milepost 250 in Whatcom County on July 31st, 2017.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 42-year old Spencer Albans of Mount Vernon, WA was traveling Northbound I-5 when he suffered an unknown medical issue.  His black 1996 Toyota Pickup left the roadway to the left during his medical issue. The vehicle then traveled back onto the highway and rolled over onto the right shoulder.

Medics responded to the scene and airlifted Mr. Albans to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he passed away at 1:45 a.m. on August 3rd, 2017.

Troopers say Mr. Albans was wearing a seat belt and drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash. The cause of the crash was listed as “medical issue.”

The pickup was impounded for safe keeping to Johnson’s Towing.
