Camano Island, WA – Island County Sheriff’s Deputies from the Camano Island Precinct responded to reports of a home invasion robbery around 11:00 a.m. on August 2nd, 2017 in the area of Sandy Drive.
According to a press release from the Island County Sheriff’s Office, the residents reported that an unknown male suspect drove his vehicle through their locked driveway gate and threatened them with a shotgun type firearm while they were in their front yard.
The male then reportedly forced the couple inside their residence at gunpoint where he duct taped their hands and legs together. The couple then said the man stole a large amount of cash from them before he fled the scene.
Island County Deputies described the victims as being a 57-year old male and a 60-year old female. They were able to escape a short time later and called 9-1-1.
The suspect is described as a taller white male in his mid twenties. he is said to be over 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was said to be wearing dark clothing and a mask during the robbery.
His vehicle was described as being a “shiny” black, mid-sized to large SUV. Deputies say the vehicle should have visible front and side damage from driving through the gate.
Deputies say that evidence at the scene appears that the couple was targeted and this was not a random act. They are following up on several leads and will release additional information to the public as it becomes available.
Deputies say both the man and woman were shaken up but otherwise unharmed.
