Woman Dies in Truck at Skagit Playfields

Mount Vernon, WA –  Officers from The Mount Vernon Police Department responded with Firefighters from the Mount Vernon Fire Department to the 2700 block of Martin Road around 4:31 a.m. this morning for reports of a non responsive female in a vehicle.

Arriving Officers found a 46-year old Skagit County woman  in the bed of a  pickup truck with a male she was in a dating relationship with.  Lt. Greg Booth with the Mount Vernon Police Department said the couple appeared to be living out of the truck and had parked in the parking lot.  The male was performing telephonic C.P.R with the assistance of Dispatchers from Skagit 9-1-1.

Mount Vernon Firefighters and Medics took over C.P.R. and attempted  life saving measures while transporting the woman to Skagit Valley Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Washington State Patrol responded to assist with the Death Investigation, including using a drone to document the scene from the air.  The use of drones in investigations is a fairly new tool being used by the  Washington State Patrol.  The vehicle  the couple was in was impounded to the Mount Vernon Police Department as part of the death  investigation.

Lt. Booth said the death does not appear to be suspicious in nature and the male has been fully cooperative with Investigators.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on the woman later this afternoon by the Skagit County Coroner Office.  The results of the autopsy will determine the cause and manner  of death and if any charges would be filed in the case.
