Clear Lake, WA – A Sedro-Woolley woman has been arrested for vehicular assault after Troopers say they believe she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol while driving and caused a two vehicle crash on State Route 9 near the South Skagit Highway around 2:37 p.m. on June 11th, 2017.
According to a press release from the Washington State Patrol, Troopers say 30-year old Beverly Baker (Solwold) of Sedro-Woolley was traveling Southbound on State Route 9 in a gray 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The press memo says she was traveling behind a gray 2007 GMC Yukon being driven by 17-year old from Mount Vernon. Troopers say that just after crossing the Skagit River Bridge, Beverly Baker’s Trailblazer stuck the rear of the GMC Yukon causing the Yukon to cross into the Northbound Lanes of State Route 9 and rollover, where the vehicle came to rest in the ditch. The Trailblazer then struck a light pole and came to rest on the southbound shoulder of State Route 9.
Firefighters from the Sedro-Woolley Fire Department, Clear Lake Fire Department and Skagit County Medic One responded to the scene. Troopers were assisted by Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputies and a Sedro-Woolley Officer after witnesses reported a male fleeing the scene carrying a backpack and a woman’s purse.
The 17-year old Mount Vernon teen was seriously injured and transported by ambulance to Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon. His injuries include internal bleeding, broken bones and he has been in and out of consciousness since the crash. A 4-year old Juvenile Female and a ten-year old juvenile male were both in the vehicle with him.
Beverly Baker (SOLWOLD) was not injured and booked into the Skagit County Jail on an investigative hold for suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular assault.
Both Vehicles were damaged and impounded to the Washington State Patrol Bullpen in Bellingham.
