Mount Vernon, WA – Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputies were in Seattle on May 17th, 2017, following up on leads in the May 4th homicide of 36-year old Miguel Felix that occurred in the 17000 block of Blodgett Road, just South of Mount Vernon.
During the course of the investigation in Seattle, Skagit County Detectives learned that the suspect in the homicide, 39-year old Alberto Alaniz might have last been in the Bellingham, Washington area.
Skagit County Detectives quickly contacted Detectives in Bellingham who were able to confirm that ALANIZ had been in Bellingham, but left town that morning on a Greyhound bus. Skagit County Detectives learned the bus was scheduled to arrive in Centralia, Washington around 3:10 p.m. Centralia Police were notified at approximately 3:15 p.m. and quickly responded to the area, and found the bus had arrived about five minutes earlier. Centralia Police used witness information and found that ALANIZ was in a nearby restroom and took him into custody as he exited the restroom without incident. ALANIZ was transported by Centralia Police to the Lewis County Jail.
Skagit County Detectives responded from Seattle to the Lewis County Jail where they picked up ALANIZ and transported him back to the Skagit County Jail. ALANIZ is currently being held in the Skagit County Jail on a Felony Warrant Arrest for 1st Degree Murder. He is being held in Lieu of $500,000 cash/bond.
