12-Year old Boy Dies in Rope Swing Accident

Bellingham, WA – A Bellingham family is mourning the loss of their beloved son, after a tragic rope swing  accident over the weekend.

12-year old Benny Capp, a Seventh-grade student at Kulshan Middle School died after being found tangled in a rope swing he was playing on. A family member found him and called 9-1-1.

According to the Bellingham Herald, Firefighters and medics responded to the scene and performed CPR on the boy until he had a  pulse.  He was then transported to the hospital and airlifted to Seattle’s Children’s Hospital where he died from his injuries on Wednesday.

Meagan Dawson, the Principal of Kulshan Middle School sent out an email to parents on Thursday morning notifying them of the tragic accident. The school has brought in extra counselors for students as well.
