Whatcom County, WA – On August 28th, 2016, Washington State Patrol Troopers responded to a fatal crash around 5:00 a.m. on Pole Road in Whatcom County, Washington.
According to a press release from the Washington State Patrol, investigators believe that Luciano Ailon-Garcia was driving a green, 2004 Ford Explorer Eastbound on Pole Road at an extremely high rate of speed.
State Patrol Traffic Investigators believe that Mr. Ailon-Garcia failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the roadway and the Ford Explorer traveled off the roadway and vaulted approximately 80-feet, coming to rest in a raspberry field.
One passenger was ejected from the vehicle as it came to rest and died at the scene. A second passenger suffered fractures to his ribs as a result of the crash. Troopers say, Ailon-Garcia fled the crash scene on foot without providing care for the injured.
A felony warrant was issued on March 21st, 2017 for Ailon-Garcia for investigation of Hit and Run Death, Vehicular Homicide and Vehicular Assault.
Detective believe Ailon-Garcia may still be living in the Whatcom County area. His last known address was in the 900 block of Birch Bay Lynden Road.
Ailon-Garcia is described as a 4’10” Hispanic male, weighing 170 pounds. He has brown eyes, black hair and medium skin tone.
